Where do I begin…
WHY did I choose Duke Accounting for my business name?
When I was a young child, our school had Go to Work with Your Parents day. Being that my mother was a bartender and my father was not always present, I was fortunate enough to go to work with my grandfather. He was an Accountant at Glen Gery Brick Corporation. I will never forget how much fun I had playing on his desk with the calculator and going to lunch at the Abe Lincoln (where he had his usual martini). My grandfather’s name was Claude, but everyone knew him as “Duke”. He passed away very young in his early sixties as I was graduating high school. But he will always be in my heart and I know he would be very proud of where I am today.
WHY did I start my business?
In 2009, while working full-time as a Chief Financial Officer, I started to feel, as usual, that I was beginning to get bored with the position. I decided to start offering Tax Services and small business accounting on the side, and Duke Accounting & Consulting LLC was born.
I pride myself in customer service to my clients, and, each year, my small business grew by word of mouth, with virtually no advertising.
Five years later, I had grown my practice large enough that I was able to leave my full-time position and become solely self-employed. I feel I am extremely fortunate to have the caliber of clients that I do. I have not missed a beat and had another busy tax season!
Now that tax season has ended, I can focus on meeting with current business clients, working on tax planning and, of course, beginning extensions! The time had come to present a new website showcasing my services and credentials and I was put in touch with Sheila Sacks, who has been absolutely amazing.
I hope you enjoy my new website and continue checking back as I will being posting different articles regularly. Please email me at email@example.com if there is an accounting or small business topic you would like to hear about.
