This summer, I have had the pleasure of having a young intern work with me. She has proven to be an asset and although young in age, she is very bright and knowledgeable. She has helped me get “caught up” from tax season and also worked on some client accounts and a few tax returns. I asked her to write a short “blog” on the summer and the main thing that she learned. This is SO true, one tiny mistake or missing one checked box on a tax return can impact what we do immensely! One of my greatest successes to the growth of my business has been paying close attention to detail! It was a pleasure having Gabi work with me and I hope to have her back.
“Because of my internship, I’ve taken away some valuable information from my observations. It’s clear that communication is one of the biggest necessities in this field. Without the proper forms of communication and without effort put in to create these channels, there will be a general lack of understanding among both accountants and clients. One thing I dislike about the accounting profession is how easy it is to make a mistake. A small typo can have a huge impact on a client’s financials. Being a perfectionist, I pay extreme attention to detail, but even so, I’ve made many mistakes during my time with Jenn, which I’ve taken as learning opportunities. For the most part though, I like and enjoy the work that I’ve been doing. It’s difficult to pinpoint exactly what it is that draws me to this profession, but I know that it’s the right one for me.” Gabrielle Haas
